[net.music.gdead] Good Press?

  Welcome to Colorado!

I don't know if times are changing or if maybe I just haven't
kept up with them but the Deadheads came to Colorado last night
and were met with good press! I guess I'm a somewhat new follower
of the Dead but I have been to the last 3 Red Rocks shows (one a
year). I must say I was surprised to wake up this morning and
find a channel 9 news interview with the head of the Chief Hosa
campground, the interviewer kept leading the campground official
to elaborate on the Deadheads in a bad way. The campground
official held his ground though (and his toungue) and finally
responded "If you really want to know the truth, these are the
most peaceful people we have ever had, in fact we have had more
problems with the Boy Scouts of America then with the Deadheads."

Once I got to work I checked the local paper for a Deadhead article
and found it not under music but on page 9 under a somewhat editorial
article by John Coit. Such phrases as "Jerry Garcia the graying,
wise, lead guitarist", "The faithful are here", and "There is nothing
like a Dead concert" portrayed the band as a magicial influence
which could overcome anything to talk to the audience on a musical
  level.

The articles stressed that the Dead enjoy playing the Rocks in all
it's natural beauty. Well I for one am glad to live in Denver and
also that God in his infinite wisdom created the Rocks for the Dead
to showoff their talents. I will be there this Saturday to welcome
the Dead and to let them know that even advanced mail order ticket
sales can't stop us Denverites from attending. This year I am escorting
four novices to the "concert", concert is a poor description though
I think that "happening" is a better word although somewhat old.

So here's to the Dead, to Bo who turned me on to them, to the guys
that sang "I Know You Rider" in the showers, to Dana who got the
tickets three years ago, to "Friend of the Devil" that kept me going,
and to twenty years of tunes.

LONG LIVE THE GRATEFUL DEAD !
