From the San Francisco Chronicle, Fri. 9/6/85: TEENAGER BANNED FROM GRATEFUL DEAD SHOWS Sean Foley, 17, pleaded guilty in Houston this week to possession of a controlled substance, after which Judge Woody Densen fined him $500 and put him on five years' probation, and specified that Foley not attend Grateful Dead concerts during that period. Police had claimed that Foley became violent while under the influence of LSD at a Dead concert. "Rock concerts put people together that use drugs," said the judge. "I'd guesstimate that much higher than 75 to 80 percent of people who go to a concert by the Grateful Dead probably are under the influence of drugs," he continued. Foley, who is scheduled to graduate from high school next year, had planned to follow the group around the country the year after that. If he violates the order, he will face up to 20 years in prison. ---- No comment. Michael C. Berch mcb@lll-tis-b.ARPA {akgua,allegra,cbosgd,decwrl,dual,ihnp4,sun}!idi!styx!mcb
