For a while the only Dead disk that I could find was "Terrapin Station." A few days ago I bought "Go To Heaven" (you know, the theme album about a Fortran Programmer's death) and "Shakedown Street." Shakedown has "Antwerp's Placebo" on it, which drives dogs wild when played *real* loud (try it). Are there any others out there? I'd really like to get "Dead Set" and "Reckoning" on it (of course I'd also like "Anthem of the Sun" and all the rest). Does anyone know whether there next album will be the last they have to do with Arista? --Cliff

So far, the only CD's in evidence here have been the three that Cliff has mentioned (Terrapin, Shakedown, Heaven) - notably, all Arista releases, right? > Does anyone know whether there next album will be the last they have to do > with Arista? I saw an interview a while back (perhaps 6 mo?) which quoted Garcia as saying that they were contractually obliged to do just one more album for Arista; also that they hadn't been too happy with Arista and that was one of the reasons that there hadn't been an album for some time. Also speaking of Arista, does anyone know what the deal is with Reckoning? It seems to have vanished, but then something called "For the Faithful" (or some such title) appeared in a few places, with the same set of songs as on "Reckoning". It's as if the album was re-released with a different title and cover. The logic, let alone the economics, of such a move escapes me. Curiously, Dead Set (which is really a companion to Reckoning) seems to have suffered no comparable fate. -- Dick Dunn {hao, ucbvax, allegra}!nbires!rcd (303)444-5710 x3086 ...Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity.

According to Dead Relix Magazine, Reckoning is no longer being pressed by Arista (neither is Run for the Roses nor Bobby and the Midnights). But they say they've got them. Even if you aren't interested in ordering albums, you should check out this Dead-devoted magazine. It has been around for years.
