Greetings Fellow hackers, I am intersted in corresponding with people regarding a port of hack (1.0.3) to VMS. I am looking for people that have made the port. I ported hack1.0.3 to VMS about a year ago. I started to work on it but had to quit due to work and school. A friend and coworker of mine took it from there and made all the necessary changes to get it to work (99.9% of the work). We now have a working version that has a few "minor" bugs that we have found. We have been testing it for about 5 months now and are fairly certain that it will compile and work consistently. We have talked about how to distribute this and have not made a decission yet what is the best way. I do not like the idea of posting it to the net due to it's size. Mostly I do not want to spend half a month reading or receiving mail from people that did not get one piece of it. We are two busy to handle a high volume of tape requests. Also I am not sure how the Department I work for would feel about me receiving and sending out all of these tapes. If there is someone out there that would be willing to act as a distribution site I would be willing to send them a copy and direct all mail to them. We would like to find a few select sites that would test hack for us and notify us of any changes or problems. This is the version of hack that has all of the original features and bugs nothing has been added. A few things have been changed due to the conversion but none of the basic logic. This is what is needed VAX/VMS 4.2 (4.?? possibly will work) and the VAX-C2.1. For this implementation we used curses as supported by VMS. You may contact either one of us by replying to ...!purdue!jmoore or purdue!grover. I may also be reached via Arpa I beleive it is now jmoore@pur-ee.gb.edu (I think this is correct). Sorry I cannot be more specific on the address I don't do this often. You may not receive any responce until after May 9th. Both of us will be graduating in May and have many things to do to finish up. In case neither of the above will work then mail me something at the address below or I may be reached at (317)494-2686 8:00am to 5:30pm M-F.
