I have been listening to this discussion and was wondering which empire you are talking about. One empire writen by Walter Bright is mostly a Fortran program with latter people making alterations on it. I heard however that it is only used on VMS systems or the IBM-pc. The second game called empire was written by Peter Langston for a Unix baised environment. This game however does not come with the source code and the person who owns the copywrite to the game can't be reached.
