[net.music.synth] digital->sound conversion equipment?

graham@convex.UUCP (02/10/85)

I want to generate a particular kind of music. I have written software to
compute the pitchs for four part (barbershop: SPEBSQSA) chords and want to
play them. The pitches are computed using just intonation, not the tempered
scale (like that of the piano). I need some kind of equipment which will
play a series of chords: a song. I already have speakers, so I really need
only the digital->analog conversion equipment.

I have an Osborne-I which has an IEEE-488 output buss and an RS-232 output
port. Where can I get the equipment I want? What range of prices can I
expect to pay? Are there any journals or magazines devoted to such devices?

PS: I am aware that there is such a thing as a MIDI interface, but I don't
    know much more than about it than its name.
