[net.music.synth] inexpensive keyboard

I currently play guitar and recorder and would like to learn to play a
keyboard instrument. I don't want to buy a piano (too hard to move, no
volume control), so a synth seemed the next best thing.

I don't need lots of voices, or fancy features. I am willing to build
things. I don't want to spend a lot of money.

Does such a thing exist? Or am I asking for too much?
