I recently picked up a TR-707 drum machine and am also pleased with it. I DID have some problem hooking it up to my Sequential Midi, so perhaps I can save someone else some grief. The catch is that the Sequential input expects a STEREO phone plug- the documentation neglects to mention this, so what is required is a DIN plug for the TR-707 Sync end, with the CLOCK and START/STOP pins going to the hots on the stereo phone plug, and DIN ground going to ground on the phone plug. What I ended up with was a DIN to 4 RCA phono cord, and a 2-RCA phono jack to stero phone plug adapter from Radio Shack. Works like a charm! There are LOTS of options on the TR-707, so the following complaint may prove to be unfounded, but I haven't yet discovered a way to load the TR-707 patterns over Midi. Sure, I can save the whole song to my sequencer and play it back thru the drum machine, but that's an incredible waste of memory. I'd rather be able to load patterns and track info, just like the TR-707 normally does. I have a Prophet 600 and have not yet discovered a way of controlling the 600 directly from the TR-707 without the Sequential Midi & my C64 in the circle. Appreciate any help on that one. Anyway, for the price, the TR-707 sounds great to me! The greatest limitation seems to me to be only having 64 patterns, but I won't know until I run out.
