Does anyone out there in netland know of any public domain MIDI software in C? I don't much care if it's tailored to a particular CPU/display/keyboard/synthesizer, as I haven't yet decided on my choice of any of the above, but I intend to finalize these decisions over this summer. Barring the availability of public domain C code (I can wish, can't I?), I'd appreciate seeing reviews of commercial software for 8088/8086/ 80186/80286 machines (my current leaning). If it makes a difference, the only instrument I play is a terminal keyboard; my interest is in computer assisted composition. I've had a chance to play some with a friend's C64 driving a Sequential Circuits 6-Track. It does a lot of nice things, but it's apparant that the C64 is the limiting factor. I feel that with a more powerful processor (and in particular a larger address space), a very much more powerful package can be constructed, perhaps rivalling the Fairlight system and the New England Digital system. -- Marty Shannon UUCP: ihnp4!eagle!mjs Phone: +1 201 522 6063
