The following information comes from the "Korg Patches" magazine, June 1985, which I got by calling Unicord at 1-800-645-3188. They also sent me the famed Korg MIDI pamphlet, and lots of information on the rest of their product line. The DW 8000 is a DW 6000 plus a lot of features (It uses the Korg DWGS- digital waveform generating system). A summary of features ... Velocity and pressure sensitive keyboard, with programmable parametric control. 8-Voices using a total of 16 digital oscillators. I believe the 6000 is a 6 voice, 12 oscillator model. 16 digital waveforms per oscillator. The 6000 uses 8 per osc. The 8000 has a 24db/octave VCF, VCA and two digital 6-parameter Envelope Generators per voice. A programmable Digital delay with 64 programs. This replaces the analog chorus feature. Programmable parameters include delay time, time factor, feedback intensity, modulation speed and intensity, and effect level. Maximum delay range is 2 msec to 512 msec. An Arpeggiator. Programmable auto-bend. Modulation generator with four different waveforms (triangle, square, up/down ramps). I went looking for this unit, and couldn't find it. Not only that, but the local Korg dealer never heard of the 8000 and had just seen the Korg salesman. He said it was out of character for the Korg salesman not to be talking a blue streak about any new product, let alone a new top of the line. If anybody in netland can find out when the 8000 will be available and what it will cost, please post the info. Barry Axelrod AT&T Information Systems (201) 834 - 1078 {world}hou2h!vaximile!bha
