*** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR DIGITAL SAMPLE *** The Guitar Schack Store in the Chicago area is advertising the Sequential (Circuits Inc.) Prophet 2000. The store hopes to have the unit in stock in a couple of weeks. Those of you who can't afford an Emulator II, Fairlight, etc. and don't feel like the Ensoniq Mirag and the Akai Sampler quite does the job, might be interested in checking this out. I have not seen or heard this unit -if anyone has, how about a quickie opinion/review? The advertisement for the Prophet 2000 claims the following: - 8-voice proffessional quality Sampling Instrument -user sampling supported, including varaiable input control, reverse, mix, and truncate sample editing, automated looping functions such as computer assisted zero cross-over and zero slope selection. -factory disk library available -each voice sample may be altered with a 4-pole low pass VCF, a VCA, and a velocity controlled 4 stage envelope. -up to 16 samples assignable anywhere on the keyboard - -octave velocty keyboard with weighted action - on-board 3 1/2 inch disk drive -advanced programmable arpegiattor -complete MIDI implementation The store dealer told me over the phone that the disks are not pre-formatted (any disk may be used, unlike the Mirage), and that those who have heard the instrument feel it has a nicer sound than the Mirage or Akai. The instrument retails at $2,499.00 Bob Neumann
