Well, the time has come for me to purchase a drum synthesiser (aka "drum box.") I happen to want really good drum sounds because I use them a lot in my music; I'm looking for the most accurate sounds I can get under about $600. I'd also like to find a drum box that is expandable into a pad-oriented system like the Simmons SDS series. I've heard that Yamaha has plans to release a pad setup for use with the RX-11/15, but that was a while ago and I'm not sure if they're still planning to do it. To this end, I'd like to take a survey of what users on the net use for their drum sounds. All input is welcome -- if you have a Linn 9000, write me and tell me how you like it and whether you believe the purchase was worth the price; by all means do the same if you have a Dr. Rhythm or use a Mirage or an Akai or even if you pat out your hands on a coffee can. If I get enough responses, I'll post a summary to the net; I'll also mail out a more detailed summary to those who request it. I've just recently gotten interested in buying a synth +peripherals; even though I've been reading this newsgroup for awhile, I don't remember seeing anything about a drumbox survey. I may have seen it and forgotten about it though, so if it's been done within the last couple months, could some kind soul let me know what the article number was? Thanks a lot... -- --Rob Rosen ...ucbvax!rosen rosen@ucb-vax.berkeley.edu
