[net.music.synth] job opportunity in synthesizer design

smh@mit-eddie.UUCP (Steven M. Haflich) (09/15/85)

An established manufacturer of servo equipment has for several years
been developing proprietary new technology for stringed instrument
synthesizer controllers. Recently I enjoyed a demonstration of both
fretted and non-fretted instrument prototypes. Although under a
non-disclosure agreement prevents me from describing the devices, I can
endorse the quality and potential of the work.

The company now plans to create a spinoff subsidiary to finish
development and bring products to market. While the company has 25
years experience in precision design, maufacturing, and marketing, they
have no microcomputer experience. They want to hire a chief engineer
to develop a microcomputer controller with MIDI output. They require
proven experience in microcomputer development, preferably taking a
product all the way to market. Musical experience, and particularly,
work with current synthesizers and MIDI is a strong plus.

This would be an equity position in a small startup company, combining
stock and salary. I am impressed with the combination of business and
engineering expertise of the principals. This could be a wonderful
opportunity for some aspiring musician/engineer.
