I have seen (and played) the new (?) Yamaha DX-21 synthesizer at a local dealer's for $795. While i'm not really enamored of the Yamaha FM-based timbre (being an old Moog fanatic), i am extremely tempted to get one of these creatures, considering that the list price is the same as my first keyboard --- a Vox Continental portable organ (and that was 1967 dollars!). So what i would like to know is: - Has anyone who is familiar with higher-end synths tried the DX-21, and what did you think? - How does it compare to the DX-7? - Will i ever find anything else near this good for this price? Thanks, -- Jim Ericksen UNC Chapel Hill

The DX-21 is two DX-9's with lots of preprogrammed patch memory. It doesn't really compare with the higher level synths like the DX-7 and up, but it's small, cheap, and beats the pants off the CASIO Annoy-a-tron class keyboard. -Ron
