Does anyone know how CD's are laid out? I've guessed that they
have discrete tracks, like computer disks, but I suppose they
could spiral like a phonograph record. Is there something
analogous to a Un*x superblock, or other VTOC-type thing?
Judging from the initial latency when you play one, there
seems to be considerable data buffering. Is there? How much?
Please reply by e-mail (to address below--don't hit 'r', as the
machine this is coming from will be gone in a few days). I'll
