I've been looking to buy a synth, and my two main choices right now
are an Akai AX-80 or a Roland JX-8P. I've seen quite a bit of traffic
about the AX, but nothing about the Roland keyboard, at all. Does
anyone have it and care to post a review of this product? I'm
particularly interested in the relative strengths and weaknesses
of these two. Some things I've noticed are:
1. AX is 8 note poly, while Roland is only 6. (Is this a severe
limitation?)
2. Roland has noise sources, while the AX does not.
3. Roland has provided some great presets, but looks like it might be
more difficult to set up my own patches.
4. The Roland keyboard has aftertouch sensitivity as well as velocity
sensitivity. (Is this very useful, or not?)
Comments on these or any other features will be useful.
