( Are there any line-eaters lurking? ) Back in August-September, there was some discussion in net.music.synth about the Pitchrider 7000 guitar-to-MIDI interface from Cherry Lane Tech in New York. I have some updated information on availability of this unit. Cherry Lane has totally sold off rights to the Pitchrider to Kramer Music ( makers of Kramer Guitars ) They are planning to distribute the product through the standard Kramer dealer network. The availability as quoted by Kramer is approximately mid-to-late December. When shipments start, any dealer who carries Kramer will be able to get the Pitchrider. No information as to whether the suggested list of ~$1000 is still valid. This unit provides a hex pickup and a rackmountable interface unit to allow your solid-body electric guitar to speak MIDI. One string per MIDI channel is reputedly supported. If there are any electronic guitarists/guitar synthesizer folks out on Usenet, let's hear from you! This interest area has been very quiet on the net in the past few months. Yours for homegrown music, Charlie Richardson, Saber Technology, Inc. I am a trumpet player and I saw the ad in DownBeat several months ago for the Pitchrider and it mentioned that it would detect pitch from trumpet (among other instrs.) as well as voice. Anyone have experience with this or these types of devices. Please reply by mail and post to net.music.synth since I am sure I am not the only brass/wind player on the net. thanks in advance.
