[net.music.synth] Amiga and Music Software

pajb@ulysses.UUCP (Paul Bennett) (11/19/85)

[Food for thought ...]

Is there anyone out there with ideas about writing Amiga software ?
Is anyone doing it ? Would anyone be interested in colaborating with
me in producing some really first rate software at non-inflated prices
?

I'm fairly excited about the possibilities that the Amiga offers (and
the Atari 520ST as well, to some extent) I've been putting off the
idea of getting my hands dirty, since I like to play music in my
spare time, NOT write code, which I do all day. However, the Amiga is
just too tempting. Oh sure, there's people (read: some large/small
software company) writing music software for it, but what about us
multi-talented musician.programmers getting in on the act ? I have
some ideas in my head about producing some good software ala Free
Software Foundation, perhaps charging a nominal fee top cover
expenses, and allow us to produce more. Anyone interested ? I've only
vague ideas about the mechanics - send me your ideas if you're
interested.

A breif bio: 28, a Unix hacker for about 6 years, musician since I was
16, I started on guitar. I'm now doing keyboards (MIDI got to me). I
have a Mirage, some four track equipment and a Drumulator. I plan
on getting a TX-7 soon, and a computer. Probably an Amiga, but I may get
a C64 just for the interim, or possibly an Atari - I'm undecided)

You better mail me directly. If I get anything interesting, I'll post again.

While I'm on the subject, does anyone have any REAL information about
the beast ? (Amiga) All I've seen so far is the AmigaWorld promo mag,
which is much like getting an opinion of Romeo from Juliet.
Unfortunately, the writing itself doesn't quite come up to THAT
standard, either ..... If anyone has some technical specs., software
details, etc., or even a reference, I'd be eternally grateful
