x I have been playing with my new Korg DW-8000, which I like a lot. One capability which seems to be missing from it (and many synth's in its class) is the ability to treat its keyboard as separate from its tone generators. Basically, I would like to have its tone generators to respond to one portion of the keyboard, while all or the remaining portion spits out MIDI codes to drive another synth. I realize that there are several moderately priced synths that do support split keyboards (e.g. DX21, Multitrax, Kawai...) Am I missing something ? For example, is there a way to get the DW-8000 to only respond to MIDI codes on a specific channel (and not necessarily to its own keyboard), while its keyboard is spitting out MIDI codes ? Then a simple computer could redirect the MIDI codes to whatever channels you like. I am about to look into the DW-8000's ROM code. It appears to use a Hitachi 63B03 microprocessor. (Also a NEC D65010, but I don't know what that is) Any suggestions, hints ? Cheers, Dan Ts'o Dept.
