[net.music.synth] Drum Machine

tre@sdcarl.UUCP (Tom Erbe) (11/18/85)

I am looking for the least expensive drum machine that stores its
sounds on bytewide PROMs and has a decent MIDI implementation. Any sug-
gestions?? Furthermore, if you know of a mail order house that gives
particularly good prices on the above, please include that info too.

HELP!!
About a week ago I saw a query for people interested in doing
actual MIDI implementation as a speculative venture "in competition with
the big guys.." This query was posted by someone at the Labs,
at Murray Hill, I think. He said he wrote code for a living
and spending his evenings doing the same instead of making music wasnt
his idea of a good time; so he wanted to collaborate with someone, doing
the design himself and leaving the coding to this collaborator.

Great! I thought and read on WITHOUT first saving the message.
Ten seconds later someone I live with picked up the phone and started
dialing; I lost everything in net.music.synth as well as my connection.

THE POINT
If the person who posted that original inquiry, or someone who knows who he is,
or someone else interested in collaborating on a MIDI synthesizer/sequencer
actually reads this, please send me mail, I'm interested.

I have about three years C programming experience and a much longer
acquaintance with music and making tools and instruments for making music.
I would be very interested in sharing information and in discussing the
possibility of working together on the basis described above.
