[net.music.synth] Voice Storage/FM synth book

I need some advice on storing voices for a DX7. As I understand it,
the DX21 allows you to store voices on cassette tape (like early PC's did).
After a voice is loaded from tape, it is just as fast as a DX7 (punch the
button and play). Is there ANY way to do this with a DX7? I am planning
to orchestrate some of my compositions in the near future and will need to
create some new voices and alter some of the preset voices. The problem is
that I need a place to store all the voices and the RAM cartidges cost WAY
too much!! Cassette would be just fine, but how to do it? The DX7 has no
cassette port--- but can the cartridge slot be used somehow? What kind of
interface would I need to build? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Next, can anyone tell me the title of a good book on FM synth. It
does not need to be easy or a "beginners" book. I know how FM synth work
but, like alot of colleges, I was not taught how to use it (all theory, no
real applications). I would prefer a good complete book that covers
"everything", even some of the less common features. Also and information
on how samplers work and/or a list of available samplers for the DX7 would
be of great help.
