[net.music] Julian Lennon

Has anyone heard the new single by Julian Lennon (John's son by his
first marriage)? I was really shocked when I heard it; I thought I
had been listening to one of John's songs that was previously
unreleased, till the DJ said it was Julian. Even he made a remark
about how spooky it was. I'd really be interested in hearing from
anyone who has heard any songs from Julian's album; how did you find
the music, etc.

I've had the opportunity to hear the entire Julian Lennon LP, and I think
the single really tells the story. This entire album has a tremendous
ghostly presence. Julian's voice and songwriting, as well as Phil Ramone's
production are very similar to John Lennon's later works. As a whole I
truly enjoyed listening to this record... but the incessent tugging from
my memory was at times hard to take.

It would be interesting to hear Julian play with a real band, instead of
the collection of overly competent studio musicians gathered here.

I haven't actually seen the single or album, but Julian did show up
on a video on the Evening Magazine TV program (I forget if it was the
song from the single), and both my listening and the word from the
commentators indicate that it's just like John Lennon's music.

I've finally listened to the Julian Lennon album. Stunning, and very
thought provoking, and I'm very impressed with it. It looks like the talent
and the vision of his father has been successfully passed on. My only
complaint is that the album is so much like something John would have done
that it is rather spooky. I hope as time goes on he develops his own style
and vision-- future albums (well looked forward to) will tell.

This plane is equipped with 4 emergency exits, at the front and back of
the plane and two above the wings. Please note that the plane will be
travelling at an average altitude of 31,000 feet, so any use of these
exits in an emergency situation will most likely be futile.
