<.....................> I recently purchased a Yamaha DX21 and am interested in exchanging patches with anyone who has a DX of some sort. In particular has anyone managed to get a decent guitar sound - (how about a stinky guitar sound). I'm not too thrilled about the factory guitar sounds. Maybe I'm just not playing them right - (any tips ?). ...!ihnp4!sask!brecht Tim Brecht Department of Computation Science University of Saskatchewan Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

[] I'm also interested in trading DX patches (Dx7, Tx816) with people on the net. Perhaps if there are enough of us we could start a mailing list concerning patches, and such with Yamaha equipment. Send me mail, I'll collect responses and see what happens. Glenn

Studying the structure of typical "guitar" chords and reproducing them will give a greatly enhanced "sound." For example, the "folk [or any, actually] guitar" patch that comes with the DX-7 is really jumpin.' As a demo, with the sustain pedal depressed, play (starting with the appropriate octave) E A D G B E in ascending order (three octave range here; these are the open strings of the guitar). You will be amazed! Hey, KP, buddy, what's shakin'? Tim Snyder

With effective use of the velocity sensing and aftertouch or other controller and a little reverb even the factory presets can be impressive. I recommend editing the presets. They are a decent starting point for customized sounds. -- Dave Burris ..!ihnp4!ihopa!riccb!djb Rockwell Switching Systems, Downers Grove, Il.

I have created three rather interesting sounds including the sound of a crescendoing brass section, a landing spacecraft, and a sound that I called REVERB, because I can't explain it further. Unfortunately, I'm really not sure how to communicate these parameters in a clear concise manner over the net. If you have any ideas, please let me know.
