This is in response to Indra Singhal's query of a simple mechanism to send money home. The simplest (I have been doing this for quite a while) is to send an American Express money order. The maximum you can send on any one m.o is $500. But you can send as many of them as often as you want. Just take the money to any bank (except credit unions) and they'll charge you $1 commission (better han $15). Is it safe ? Yes. Just retain the counterfoil. In case the m.o is lost, write to American Express with the receipt no., you get refunded propmptly. I've also sent the m.o by ordy mail. So far they've all reached safely. However once it reaches India, it takes at least 3 weeks to clear it to convert the $ -> Rs. Hope this helps. Sridhar
