These are some tentative thoughts about what is discernably different
about Indian and American cultures. I would like to hear what others
think about these ~thoughts~ (besides whatever else you ~think~).

Indian psyche is more resilient than the American which seems to be
constantly on the go, push. Both lose something, here and there. Indians
absorb life easily but  they  bottle  up  when  it  goes  against  them;
"fighting against odds"- sure, but not at "whatever the cost". Winning
is nice but failure does not make us more "aggressive". That makes it
hard to pull oneself up by the bootstraps though it is changing now.
In all these respects, I think Americans differ remarkably.

Let me try a different tune. Ever notice that there is a fundamentally
distinct *QUALITY* of sound to both the Indian and American musical
instruments. (I am talking about music that is free of cacophonic
rumblings you find in Indian films or their counterparts here.) This is
the closest (as I haven't heard hard and wide enough), that I can
describe the difference: if you listen to the Indian music, very
rarely, you will find blood rushing to your feet. There... I said it,
but I feel I have missed something.

Just one more thought...Do the American readers here ever feel that
their Indian friends lack a sense of humor, that ability to laugh one's
head off, that many of you seem to possess here...

There are many other things I can think of.......like, why Indian food
is so spicy and hot (I love it) while their temper is *NOT*..........
Why do the Americans love pets...

Bharat Dave obviously hasn't met some of my Gujarati fiancee's relatives! :-)
