I was just informed about a violin recital by Shri Lalgudi S. Jayaraman,
alongwith Shri G.J.R. Krishnan (violin) accompanied by Shri V. Ramabhadran
on the mridangam (percussion instrument). This is held as a part of the
Festival of India which is under way for about two months now. The concert
will be held on Oct. 19, 1985, Saturday at the Kinsey Auditorium, California
Museum of Science & Industry, Exposition Park, Los Angeles (near Coliseum
& Univ. of So. Calif.). The tickets are priced as follows :
Members $ 8.00
(South India Cultural Assoc.)
Non-members $10.00
Senior Citizens &
College Students $ 6.00
For further (ticket) information, call :
N.V. Srinivasan (714) 738-7372
G.S. Krishna (714) 521-8395
S. Sampath (213) 860-1353
Meera Balachandra (213) 530-7590
Padmini Prabhakar (213) 926-1019
C. Raghunathan (714) 680-4208
Manohar Senra (213) 694-4132
Lalgudi's music needs no introduction to people even remotely familiar
with Classical Carnatic music (like me). I am sure it is a great opportunity
to see a pure classical instrumentalist perform "live".
BTW, does anyone know of any other such concerts/performances being held
around L.A. area ?
