[net.nlang.india] We, the non-Indians

bala@ut-ngp.UTEXAS (bala) (11/02/85)

Like many have noted, the stress of religion and language
have done much harm to India {Why don't we think of ourselves
as Indians, instead of Muslims or Tamilians?}. I believe
the present language states and the special status to Jammu-
Kashmir are the reasons for the non-Indianness feeling that
most Indians have. I would like to hear what other people
on the 'net' have to say about the causes of non-Indianness
   and remedies for it.

This whole thing is riduculuous. Most people are as nationalistic about
their states and communities as they are about India. There is just as much
diversity in India as there is commonness.
