[net.nlang.india] second test defeat

swami@uiucdcsb.CS.UIUC.EDU (09/21/85)

how come all those who reported india's progress in the b&h cup and at
sharjah here didn't care to tell us about our defeat in second test
against sri lanka? isn't it quite interesting to see what depths we
can plumb? :-) :-) :-)

disclaimer : i am so full of good intentions, i MUST be on the road to hell

There is very little one can say about the defeat against Sri Lanka
because "the umpiring was extremely partial to the other team." This
is a direct quote from uncle who watched the match and whose integrity in
this matter is unquestionable.

No way ho "Jay". Lets face it. We were out-played that time.
We went to Sri Lanka without any practice whatsoever. Our team
hadn't played cricket in many weeks. A week before the tour
we had no idea if the tour would still be on because of the
"tension" between the Sinhalese and Tamilians. In fact, most
of them thought it would be off for sure. So they got there
without warming up, and were just not mentally prepared.
We deserved to lose that one.
