[net.nlang.india] Happy Anniversary to net.nlang.india

bala@purdue.UUCP (Bala Krishnamurthy) (01/05/86)

Roughly a year ago (10th January 1985) I posted to net.news.group
suggesting the creation of net.nlang.india. With the support of many
others this became a reality (Mukul Aggarwal, Prentiss Riddle, Praveen
Kumar, Narendran Nachiappan, Richard Furuta to name just a few).

As we start the second year of hopefully useful communication I would like
to express my hope for less ad hominems and more useful discussions.
I would like to reiterate that the original purpose of this newsgroup
was to discuss matters interesting to an audience that is potentially
Indian.

We have had several useful discussions (prominent ones that come to mind
include the Hindu-Sikh problems, the dowry discussions) and I hope we can
continue having intelligent discussions bringing forth diverse viewpoints.
The timely news and sports briefs seem to be widely welcome. I hope the
newsgroup continues to keep Indians in touch both with India and with each
other.

Here is wishing everyone a happy new year and a happy anniversary to
net.nlang.india.

cheers,
bala
