I am interested in getting a discussion started on the subject of students presently studying in US high schools who wish to transfer to Indian high schools, or pursue undergraduate studies in India. I learn that there are some students who have had their high school education in the USA who later tranfer to high schools in India or who upon their completion of high school in a US school pursue undergraduate studies in India as it offers them some specific benefits. Ofcourse there are understandable advantages if students are pursuing studies in the areas of Indian culture, Indian linguistics, or Indian social studies. However, there was a news item recently that an American student chose an Indian school to study journalism as he felt that India offered a superior study environment for such a study. I invite discussion on the benefits of US high schoolers pursuing science/technology/medicine/economics studies in Indian schools. Specifically also, what should the transferring student prepare for seeking admission to Indian colleges? Would he have any major problems? Would he need any preparation to adapt for the different environment? What should she expect as problems? What major benefits would she reap? Would it be beneficial to India? From my discussions with Indians who have lived here for decades, this is an item of tremendous interest. It was also interesting to find that even some Americans are interested in finding out how they can join an Indian school? Specifically the preparations needed for admission, visa availability etc. Kindly use the net to offer your experiences, thoughts, and suggestions for potential undergrads with a view to embark on a PASSAGE TO INDIA for further studies.
