[net.sources.mac] Lisa Pascal source to FILE, intro

trb@drutx.UUCP (BuckleyTR) (02/03/85)

(I refuse to call my Lisa a 'Macintosh XL'!)

Following in the next 4 articles are the source codes for an example
program called FILE, written by Cary Clark of Macintosh Technical
Support. Those of you with the Lisa Pascal Workshop will already have
this.

I'm sending it to give an example of the use of many of the Inside Mac
procedures. This program has been invaluable to me in helping me to
learn how to write applications on the Lisa, and to understand Mac
programming in general.

There are four items - File.src, which is the Lisa Pascal source (this
is about 1950 lines long), File.rsrc, which is the resource file
listing, which gives a good explaination of how to use DLOG, WIND,
ICON, STR, etc., File.asm, which has two assembly procedures called
from the pascal source, and finally, the binhex'ed version of the
compiled FILE.

Many of us who have Lisa's have written some things we could upload to
the net - this is a plea for those who have Lisa's to do so. Since
I'm not a software type, examples are worth all the textbooks in the
world, especially on this machine.
