[net.sources.mac] Come on! A call for standardization!

The mac is supposed to be a computer for the rest of us. Why are we making
net.sources.mac more difficult by the minute. It takes a LONG time for a
user to figure out how to get the goodies we post here running on their
macs, and now, switching to datacompaction and or binhex 5.0 that uucp
chokes on invilves another step to downloading to macs.

on behalf of those without phds in computer science who bought macs beacuse
they are fun and easy PLEASE don't make getting public domain software
like that posted on the net any harder.

Lets just stick with binhex 4.0 or source code.

I realize we are bringing the net down to the lowest common denominator,
but in this case, since the mac is supposed to be friendly, lets not
force everyone to relearn downloading to the mac.

Now that I have broken my own rule about posting somthing other than
a source to net.sources.mac (there isnt a net.sources.mac.d) lets just
remember the novice!

Here, here! There were enough problems with the 2.0/4.0 problem, or when
users early on were saying "bin WHAT?". Now that binhex 4.0 has become
THE standard, and even a documented one, let's stick with it as is.

By the way, could someone mail me the 4.0 and packit formats? If you
can't beat 'em, join 'em.
