[net.news.stargate] networking across the Pacific

kwan@smeagol.UUCP (03/08/86)

I am not a regular reader of this news group (which is besides the point
anyway). I will shortly be going overseas to Taiwan to do UNIX systems
support (and other sundry things). I have been attempting to find a
network link between here (USA) and there, but to no avail. (The one
supposed uucp link didn't work.)

I thought about Stargate as a solution model, except for political
problems of international data transfer, the economics of it, etc.
(Then again, how do we manage with Australia, Japan, etc.?)

If anyone has any serious suggestions to offer, I would appreciate a
note to my comrade in incomputable mischief, Mr. Greg Earle. He is
willing, within limits, to hold and bundle messages for me. His
addresses are:
	sdcrdcf!smeagol!earle (UUCP)
	ia-sun2!smeagol!earle@csvax.caltech.edu (ARPA)

Thanks in advance.
