The World Frisbee disc Championships will be held at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ this year. The WFC had never been held on the east coast since its inception in 1974. Competitors will check in on Sunday, July 18, competition will start Monday, July 19, and the finals will be in Rutgers Stadium on Saturday, July 24. There will be competitors from all over the US and all over the world. Players compete in different events which test skills in accuracy, distance, and finesse. I guarantee that you will see disc athletes do tricks that you would never imagine were possible. The "freestyle" competition is most exciting, sort of a Frisbee ballet (pas de disc?) I've never been to a WFC, they've always been around Los Angeles. The state and regional tournaments that lead up to the WFC are always full of high quality play; the WFC is sure to be brimming with talent. This is THE annual championship of the flying disc, it should be quite exciting. More details as the big week draws near. Discontinuously, Andy Tannenbaum Bell Labs Whippany, NJ (201) 386-6491
