[net.politics.theory] Prisoners Dilemna Query

tedrick@ernie.BERKELEY.EDU (Tom Tedrick) (12/07/85)

I would like to see some more discussion on the subject of
the "Prisoners Dilemna". I just acquired the book,
"The Evolution of Cooperation", by Prof. Robert Axelrod.
It seems quite interesting.

If you can find it, the book "Demand Revelation and the Provision of
Public Goods" by E. Clarke (out of print) would seem to be a
milestone. I'm trying to find it (I've an out-of-print search
running now). If YOU find it, please let me know -- I want to get
a copy to redeem a promise....

Actually, Clarke's book is not a good place for fundamentals; but if you
look up "game theory" in the subject catalog you'll probably find a lot of
material.  One book I remember as being somewhat worthwhile is by Hamburger;
I think the title is something like "Games and Social Phenomena". There is
a journal called *Theory and Decision*; but most of its articles are technical,
with lots of difficult logical notation.
