Do not necessarily assume I am a conservative, but.... Society does have some reason both to define an addiction and to work against the spreading of a (defined) addiction. If a society (notice the sudden change in my usage of society) sees a particular behavior as a threat to its existence, then the society may be well-advised to remove the threat. Certainly some of the problems caused by heroin are severe enough to cause such action. The problems caused by marijuana may be. In fact, I have always believed that the problems caused by alcohol were pretty severe, even though I was the founder of net.wines (by the way, is the net implicitly cracking down on my particular addiction by not using net.wines?). It seems unlikely that hacking is a serious social problem, as Laura implies. However, it is worth consideration, if only because watching new things is always fascinating. If we actually get anti-hack regulations somewhere, then the net will really have something to write about. Charles
