Flannel shirts and boots are fine; thinking is dandy. I like people who think of puns like Funkin' Wagnalls. And I mentioned that some self-described hackers are probably too modest for their own good. Strikes me that Andy Tannenbaum might be one (certainly that has been my impression from his previous net contributions). I was also struck by the definition of hacker as one who patches begin ... end; until it works. Would Andy like to stop the polemics for a moment and describe his own working methods so that we can see what is good and bad about hackers/ By the way, I carry a plastic pen case. Not because I use HIPO diagrams, but because it keeps my good fountain and technical pens from leaking in the low pressure of air planes. Or, if they do leak, they don't leak on me. You see, I like my tools as well and I take care of them too. Charles
