Well, my login name is not "david", and I got a zoo while not playing *Wizard*, so I looked at the code for the definitive answer: If you are a *Wizard* then 2/3 of all levels contain shops, and the remaining third contain zoos. If not a *Wizard* then there is a 200/level% chance that a level from 2 to 19 will have a shop. If the level does not have a shop, and the level is greater than 6 (no top limit) then there will be a zoo 1/7 of the time unless your name is "david", in which case all levels without shops greater than level 6 have zoos.
