It turns out to be fairly easy to win the friendship of
someone else's dog. You just have to be very careful to
avoid hitting him first. Someone posted that he couldn't
get the now tame strange dog to follow him down the stairs.
I have managed this. You just have to wait long enough for
both dogs to randomly stop next to you.
In my present game, (caveman, +2 chain mail, two dead players'
packs worth of goodies) I had befriended 3 other dogs. (A
previous player had befriended one other.) This makes for a
total of 4 dogs of various sizes following me around. Gee, I
didn't have to fight any monsters. That plus the dead leppie
and dead floating eye digesting away in my gut, makes me believe
that this is going to be the real winner!
One problem with owning four dogs. Hell to keep them fed.
Before I saved the game today, one had died of starvation.
(Sadness.)

(ken's ghost hits) Funny, I have the same problem with one dog hastened, but boy, is he tough! (I finally found a practical use for a wand of haste monster.) Ken
