(I am redirecting this to net.games.hack, where it belongs.) There was a request as to how to install hack so it would run on other than its "home" directory. I know part of the answer to this, and am pretty sure about the rest. 1. Change all the path names to something like /usr/games/lib/hack/... 2. Create /usr/games/lib/hack, and make it group writable (by some innocuous group). Move all the relevant files (help, mklev, ...) there. 3. Make /usr/games/hack setGID to the innocuous group above. You should now be able to run hack in any directory that you have write access to. (If it still creates the level files in the local dir.) This procedure worked here, anyway.
