[...] I have noticed in the few games of Hack I have played that one periodically comes across a situation where a secret door is obviously present. I am referring to the curious effect that occurs when the hall section (i.e. `#') next to a room's door (i.e. `+') is blocked by a secret door, yet the doorway appears. Consider the following example: Move (x): ------- |.....| |.....| |.....|# #+.....|@### ---+--- # # # Move (x+1): ------- |.....| |.....+ |.....|@ #+.....|#### ---+--- # # # At move (x+1) I am unable to move ahead, and naturally I can not proceed diagonally (via `y') into the doorway. After a few searches (via `s') the remainder of the hall appears and I can proceed. Move (x+y+1): ------- |.....| |.....+# |.....|@ #+.....|#### ---+--- # # # I am curious if this is an oversight (i.e. bug) or is there some rational reason for it? I can recall other situations where something that should be hidden by a secret door appears simply because of proximity. Thanks! Ken Wellsch --- Ken C.
