There are many easy ways to "win" at hack. One of the simplest is to play as a W (wizard). Simply zap the wands you receive at the start of your game. Unless one of them is a wand of wishing, kill the game and try again until you get one. When you get one, wish for some heavy duty stuff like +7 Plate Mail, a +3 crysknife, and a ring of poison resistance (or whatever). Sometimes you get one right away, sometimes it takes 50 or more attempts. Kinda like a poor man's Wizard mode! Disaster (It's also WAY to easy to rip-off Shopkeepers!)

I felt that such tactics severely imbalanced the game. Come on, if this was a video game in some amusement parlor somewhere where you had to pay a quarter for three lives, would you use such tactics? Well, I managed to fix the game so that it wouldn't give you any powerful items (such as wands of wishing) on your initial inventory. It's still possible to find one on level 1, but you just never started with one. Besides, it's very unrealistic. Where would a wimpy first level magician get a wand of wishing from? robert -- Robert Viduya Georgia Institute of Technology ...!{akgua,allegra,amd,hplabs,ihnp4,masscomp,ut-ngp}!gatech!gitpyr!robert ...!{rlgvax,sb1,uf-cgrl,unmvax,ut-sally}!gatech!gitpyr!robert
