*** you are confused - ugglhost hits ugglhost - more *** I have found a nifty way to steal from shopkeepers lately. Imagine this situation: ------------- you You have fairly decent armor and hit points |OOOO!!?!!! |/ but no *powerful* magic items. You have not |OOO!!!*!!* @####### had lepracaun stew on your diet. What |OOOO!!$!!!@| # do you do???? ------------- # shopkeeper^ Easy!! - you throw an arrow or two (or a worthless item) at the orcs. the orcs will move forward toward the door - LET THEM. When they get to to the doorway, step backwards a step. The leading orc will advance. Kill it, another orc will step forward. do this until no more orcs advance. Move up the bodies and What do you find?? - objects the orcs picked up as they were leaving the shop!! (especially gems and gold) You did not have to even throw them tripe! Repeat this until out of orcs or the few remaining retreat. Sell the gems back to the shop keeper and get gold$ Remember - the shopkeeper does not charge you with items the monsters take. G.Host

Um, er, pardon the possible breach of good manners, but I am new to the network. We at BostonU have apparently been burning up all of our good UNIX cycles on rogue, when there is a much more thrilling way to keep people from graduating (or getting tenure, or whatever). What is this game, and how can we get it?

I don't know if this has been mentioned or not, but wands of teleport away always seem to work on shopkeepers. Don't try this till you are about ready to leave the level, however, as it does make Adjma angry. -- Scott
