Our level 8 is getting to be a real bitch. I was doing great - crysknife
(an ex-character had polymorphed a shopkeeper into a worm), armor down to -2.
(All this with only 1 shopkeeper in tiny room, yet. No wand of wishing or
anything.)
Found a scroll of genocide, wiped out cockatrices.
Level 8 had 3 ghosts with great stuff. One had ripped off a staff shop,
one a bookstore. Unfortunately, one (ironically enough, me) ghost
long-vanquished has a pile of stuff yet to be raided. Genociding c's does
not do a damn thing about ALREADY dead cockatrices.
If this keeps up we're going to need a bulldozer to clear out the rocks.
I have only won with a wizard (who got a wand of wishing), but winning
with other characters shouldn't be hard. Run a wizard outfitted from a wand
of wishing, and let the sucker die a few levels down. Better yet, run him
ALL the way down, dump all the jewels he can at level 2 stairway, and choke
on his food on level 2. Pray his ghost lives.
The rest is left as an exercise to the reader.
