"Even our eldest sister "hacks" computers at a southern university" tisk tisk tisk ------------------------------------------ Im somebody's eldest (only) sister. I hack computers at a northern university. Im quite happy thank you. Given that the one thing we all have in common is that one day we shall die, shouldnt those of us who manage to remain happy in the mean time be given a break? If I gripe Im being defensive. If I do nothing Im either apathetic, or secretly convinced that the computer room is no place for a woman. Actually I am mad as hell about such remarks, but then that seems to be another no-no. (Even our sister gets as mad as hell sometimes......) Hmm. If you think it would be to your benefit to hack less, do so. I sure wont stop you. I think that you are a big boy (I assume that you are not a girl or you wouldnt have made the inane remark) and can make your own decisions. Just like I make mine. Laura Creighton decvax!utzoo!laura

Well, we know laura has recovered from her brothers destructive influence. If I say "Even my sister..." too, do I get shot down? Relax, I dont have a sister, so I cant say it. By the way, Laura, while you were away recovering your files there was a very interesting discussion (if unmitigated, unthinking, knee-jerk flaming can be politely called such) about the danger of the rm(1) command, and whether it should have an option for the naive user. You very neatly satisfied the missing case in the reasoning (if you like your files, back them up, dont blunt the knife instead). Any thoughts? Michael Wagner, University of Toronto Computing Services
