Although I agree completely with Andy Tannenbaum that throwing useless babel onto the net for the purpose of generating endless diatribe is rather adolescent, I note that he is not above wallowing in more than his share of such infantile indulgence. As a BTL employee, I found many of Andy's often arrogant and sometimes crude offerings an embar- rassing reflection until I was informed that while he works AT Bell Laboratories, he does not work FOR us. Now I can be merely embar- rassed! Seriously, I believe we could ALL make our contributions to the net a bit more civilized; how many of us would say face-to-face to another human being some of the things we gratuitously broadcast on the net? Obviously, this missive has potential to start another endless diatribe. Let's all prove we're past the acne stage by exhibiting a measure of self-control. Chip Christ, BTL, Murray Hill, NJ
