An easy way to kill shopkeepers? If you have a wand
of polymorph, write Elbereth (though this doesn't seem to be
too effective) and polymorph the shopkeeper.
The shopkeeper will usually turn into something worse,
but if you polymorph him a couple (2 or 3 worked for me)
of times, he becomes something good like a G or i and
then you can beat the **** out of him.
When you've slayed him, you get the gold from
the (whatever) monster and you have a wide open shop and
lotsa goodies.
