While playing HACK a couple of days ago, an interresting thought occured to me. Actually, it occured after I died... I was swallowd by a trapper (no big deal) which turned out to be a shape changer. Before I could kill it, it changed into a large dog. Needless to say, I died instantly. I know that's what is supposed to happen in this case, but it doesn't seem to be very realistic. (I know, I know. What does reality have to do with HACK?). Assuming that what killed me was being crushed (I had 83 hit points at the time), I don't see how it could happen. Consider this: I was wearing +4 plate mail, +2 helmet, +0 shield, +2 elven cloak. Now assuming that a shape changer's stomach is not made out of case hardened steel, it seems to me that I would not be able to be compressed by a change to a smaller form. In fact, I would expect to puncture the stomach and kill the monster. I could understand taking a few hit points damage from the experience, but not instant death. Any other thoughts on the subject?
