[] "Does anyone have a list of the different things different monsters do to you after eating them. I know about many of the ones on the upper levels, but was curious about the critters later on." Here's the list. This is a SPOILER and may hinder your enjoyment of the game. It was derived from the source to hack version 1.0.3 (for 4.2BSD). You may not wish to read further. Any corpse except a dead acid blob or dead lizard can become tainted. Eating a tainted corpse makes you sick. Poisonous monsters are acid blob, giant beetle, homunculus, killer bee, scorpion, giant ant, dragon, kobold, snake, and vampire. If you eat one and are not resistant to poison, you have an 80% chance of losing 4 strength points and 15 hit points. Inedible monsters are unicorn, xan, zruty, floating eye, leprechaun, nymph, orc, purple worm, quasit, rust monster, and umber hulk. If you eat one, you lose hit points, but no strength points. Dead lizard: if you are confused, you will become unconfused in two turns. Leprechaun, nymph, tengu: you start teleporting. Wraith: increment your experience level. Nurse: heal you up (restore hit points to max). But also: Nurse, human (shopkeeper, guard, wizard, but not ghost) and dog (tame or wild): you start aggravating monsters, as though you were wearing the ring. Invisible stalker: if you are invisible when you eat it, you will be invisible forevermore, and will be able to see invisible things. If you weren't invisible, you become invisible for from 50 to 150 turns, but don't gain invisible sight. (This changed from version 1.0.2, when you always gained invisible sight.) In either event, you become confused for 50 turns. Bat: you become confused for 50 turns. Dragon: you attain fire resistance, as though wearing the ring. Floating eye: you attain telepathy. Whenever you are blind, you can see all creatures on your level. Floating sphere, yeti: you attain cold resistance, as though wearing the ring. Killer bee, scorpion: you attain poison resistance, as though wearing the ring. Cockatrice: you turn to stone. Acid blob: you stop turning to stone! Since it can't become tainted, a dead acid blob is a good thing to carry into battle against a cockatrice.
