when I drop an item that a shopkeeper is uninterested in, it is marked as unpaid when I pick it up and I can't leave the store. Is there any reason for this that I don't understand? Has anybody fixed this already? If not, I guess I'll have to delve into the source. (I tried to mail this but the mailer at Harvard doesn't like me ) This isn't a bug as such, many times there are specialist shops (ie non-antique shops) with odd items in them - usually scrolls in non book shops. While this isn't the normal stock in trade you will still be charged for it. The same thing happens if you drop something in the shop - but the shopkeeper is too mean to pay for it. Alternatively don't wake it up - at level 3 it's unlikely to have anything you're really desparate for. (A possibility is to keep playing a knight until you leave a ghost on approx level 4-5 and then snaffle the goods while playing a wizard. This gives a well armed and armoured magic user who can teleport on experience level 6 [use ^T] - which can then steal the sh*t out of shopkeepers [sell them everything first - that way you get their gold as well] and is strong enough to carry enough kit to be useful) -- Regards Derek !seismo!mcvax!ukc!stc!dbmk1 I've heard that re-incarnation is making a come-back.
